Blogtoberfest 2012 - Day 5 - Visit to River Farm
Mom wanted to have her hair done, so this morning after breakfast we went to Shirlington Village to the Hair Cuttery. Margaret did a great job with mom's color and a trim. Then we were off to do a little shopping. After that we decided to head to Alexandria. I ended up driving through Alexandria and headed south like we were going to Mt. Vernon. I saw a sign that said River Farm, and decided to see where it led us.
We ended up at the River Farm, which is headquarters of the American Horticulture Society. George Washington had bought the farm in 1760, but never lived there. It was a really neat place with pretty gardens, and you could even go in to the main level of the farm house on the property.
