Teaser Tuesday
Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers.

My teaser for today:
"The pup talked back to her. Since she didn't speak Wolf, she had no idea what he said, but she had the impression he was embarrassed, and her noticing the poop only made things worse, but she didn't know what to do about that. The terra indigene weren't human, didn't think like humans even when there were in a human skin."

p.172, "Written in Red" by Anne Bishop
Anne Bishop is my favorite author and in preparation for the release of her newest book in The Others series (March 8th!), I am rereading the first three books in the series. Written in Red is the first book and introduces us to the main protagonist, Meg Corbyn. Meg is a cassandra sangue, or blood prophet. She sees visions of the future when her skin is cut. Cassandra sangue are kept in seclusion and their lives are heavily regimented. For their own safety, of course. Too many cuts are said to make them gradually go insane and want to kill themselves.
Meg runs away from her Controller and this book is her story as she makes her way into the outside world. This book is firmly in the fantasy genre, but also includes elements of mystery and a teensy bit of romance thrown in for good measure. There are shape changers (wolves, coyotes, crows, bears, and others, oh my!), vampires, elementals, and ponies who can literally make the earth shake!
I highly recommend this series for anyone who loves fantasy novels. Reading this series has made me laugh out loud and cry tears of both sadness and joy. What else can a reader ask for?
Hummm, sounds like I should try to find room for Bishop in my list. I'm playing today too at Beth Fish Reads.
ReplyDeleteOh nice! Funny how our teasers came from the same series! Thanks for visiting my post!
