Research at the National Archives

After work on Friday, Marc and I went back to the National Archives to do some research.  I looked up military records for three people I think are relatives, one of them a 5 or 6 times great-grandfather who served in the Revolutionary War.  The Archives had records related to his request for a pension, including an affidavit he submitted along with affidavits submitted by people who knew him.  The records show the pension was granted.  The records also included copies of requests for his military records that others had made and the subsequent responses to those requests.  It was really neat to see the typed letter responses that obviously came from a typewritter, back before computers and computer-generated replies.
